Job Description

The Continental Advanced Purchaser is the Purchasing representative in the project team from customer acquisition until Start-of-Production (SOP).

Core Responsibilities:
Control the supplier management processes
• Involve suppliers at an early project phase as part of the Early ¬Supplier ¬Involvement (ESI) program
• Initiate Collaborative¬ Supplier ¬Involvement (CSI) programs to enable a formal external development support
• Setup a sourcing plan and closely synchronize with project team on a regular basis
• Control supplier related milestones during the product development phase (APQP, PPAP)
• Follow-up on supplier and material status
• Support the BU as well as corporate supplier and material strategies

On Time Sourcing & follow-up
• Perform and control sourcing activities with respect to established processes, sourcing plan (on time sourcing), target costs, quality requirements (e.g. SCR) and ADAS purchasing targets
• Responsible to meet BOM target costs
• Responsible for supplier tooling budget planning and data management in the tooling database
• Maintain sourcing forecast for fiscal year +3
• Secure supplier capacity in case of customer volume increase
• Responsible to provide necessary data to present sourcing in relevant acceptance & approval committees (e.g. SRM, PAB)"

Data management / Communication / Purchasing Tools
• Data management in AP reporting tools (e.g. Component¬ Tracking¬ Tool (CTT), SupplyOn, AP-Scorecard, AP¬Tracker)
• Data management of tooling budget in the ADAS OPT tooling database
• Data management according to corporate and BU purchasing KPI's and goals
• Reporting of critical projects to relevant ADAS management team member & meetings
• Communication interface between IPT and Category/Plant Purchasing
• Communication of targets costs, schedule information, etc. towards Category Purchasing / Plant Purchasing / SQM / SCM / etc.
• Application of purchasing tools (AP Tracker, SupplyOn, CTT, ADAS OPT, Supplier¬Panel¬Tool, BoCAT, etc.)

Material costs of the BU products
• Calculate Bill¬ of ¬Material (BOM) during acquisition phase and throughout the Project Life Cycle (PLC)
• Develop concepts of cost efficient design with R&D to enable customer award and/or product profitability
• Design ¬to ¬cost activities to achieve material cost committed during acquisition phase (PCIS)
• Support Cost Reduction Program (CRP) for BU project's after SOP
• Support supplier material and supplier tooling budget planning"

Problem resolution
• Developing own problem-solving scenarios in case of project cost and project timing risks
• Escalation in case of problems which cannot be solved on team level

• Academic degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Applied Economics
• Several years of relevant professional experience in Automotive (Engineering, Supplier Quality, Category Purchasing, Advanced Purchasing, Strategic Purchasing, Controlling)
• Leadership in international Teams
• Good communication, team and presentation skills
• Willingness to work in a distributed global team environment
• Willing to travel (<10% of the time) to support knowledge transfer and global coordination of activities.
