Job Description

Contitech North America, now a major division of Continental Contitech, is a global business that markets, manufactures and distributes a variety of products including hose, conveyor belts, power transmission belts, vibration control products, air springs and other products to a variety of customers across the industrial, OE, aftermarket and retail channels.

The Region is approximately $1.7b in top line sales, across 25 plants and 7 Business Units.

Position Summary (brief summary of the purpose and objective of the position):
Responsible for strategies and policy and procedures regarding accounting and compliance for the US/CA Contitech Group. Overall responsibility for managing the monthly close process and reporting for companies in the US/CA (which is ~$1.2B of the total Region) along with oversight and guidance to be provided to our Mexican operations (which is ~$500m of the total Region). This including analysis and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts including the upload of data from SAP to FIRE reporting system. Extensive interactions with other functions, including but not limited to Segment controllers, credit department, tax organization and others. Development of staff for own group, and other functions inside Continental is also a key item of responsibilities.

Principle duties & responsibilities include:

Accounting Responsibilities:

• Management of monthly NAR close process including coordinating with the Shared Service Centers in Philippines and Mexico
• Timely & accurate month end close & related reporting of results to local and Continental corporate management
• Collaboration with the segment / BU controllers to address accounting & reporting matters
• Responsible for ensuring that accounting is in accordance with IFRS and internal FRM (Financial Reporting Manual)
• Directly responsible for specific accounting matters such as royalties, BU allocations and intercompany reporting
• Assurance of timely and accurate account reconciliations for NAR locations either performed locally and/or by Shared Service Centers
• Responsible for managing several direct reports as well as indirect reports based on work task/project
• Participation in post close M & A activities around integration into our processes and systems
• Ongoing adherence to company policy and procedures
• Internal controls requirements/compliance
• Indirect involvement in IT projects and enhancements
• Relationship with local external auditors and internal auditors
• Drive process improvement

Controlling Responsibilities:
• Review forecasts and budgets for several legal entities and business units including but not limited to balance sheet, revenue, expense, etc.
• Monitor performance results against the forecast and budgets, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variances
• Perform internal reporting for various topics to global Continental reporting systems including but not limited to risk management, IT costs and headcount / HR
• Assists with special financial and business-related studies and cooperates with other departments in preparing analyses in such areas as financial and expense performance, depreciation, working capital, etc.
• Lead and/or participate in various projects for process improvements
• Collaboration with the segment / BU / plant controllers as well as the general ledger manager to ensure accurate reporting
• Ad-Hoc reporting and analysis by legal entity

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance
10 - 20 years overall experience
Team player, detail oriented, fast learner; this position interacts with different teams within the organization therefore requires excellent communication and coordination skills.
Should be able to deal with multiple requests, multiple bosses and delivers timely and accurately.
Strong problem-solving & financial analytical skills to effectively address issues & questions
Ability to travel in Region, but 15% or less
Previous experience with SAP systems is highly preferred
