Overview:
We are building an open source compliance competency at Continental that supports product development across multiple divisions. If you are interested in getting in on the ground floor of a new team that works with bleeding edge technology and open source compliance relative to new technology, then this position is for you!
The Open Source Compliance Engineer bridges the worlds of Open Source software and Automotive software. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of the implications of using Open Source software, as well as a good knowledge of software development. Ideal candidates for this role typically are Software Engineers that are interested in learning something new and something specialized. We are happy to teach open source compliance to great engineers!
The individual shall support the execution of open source license obligations for all products. He/She will gather data to analyze software, identify and communicate open source issues, and provide technical recommendations for successful compliance with open source license requirements.

Core Responsibilities:
1) Analyze and review software packages and releases for open source compliance.
2) Apply open source policies and ensure compliance with all applicable licenses; develop processes to ensure ongoing maintenance of all open source and third party code.
3) Establish processes and tools to maintain code base integrity, including open source packaging processes.
4) Drive the development process towards quality-centric methodologies. Influence the adoption of open source community's best practices for maintaining code quality and the development of analysis tools.

Additional Responsibilities:
1) Partner with IT/release engineering teams to investigate issues in SCM environments
2) Administration and scripting activities in a Linux environment
3) Write queries to mine data from the database either for generating metrics or for gathering data Job Requirements Required Qualifications:
1) Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Computer Science
2) At least 2 years of experience in embedded software engineering and system architecture
3) Knowledge of software integration & binary analysis
4) Knowledge of UNIX, GNU/Linux, and Windows.
5) Proficient in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, and Perl).
6) Effective communicator
7) Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work with culturally diverse, cross-functional teams

1) Understanding of Open Source Licenses.
2) Understanding of Open Source Software Development
3) Version Control and Configuration Management Software (git, JIRA) administration
