Job Description

Position Responsibilities:

The Product Development co-op will assist in the product development process and lean product development.

He/she will be responsible for statistical analysis, draper belt design and analysis, and machine design and problem solving­ both individually and in development teams. This will include frequent and ongoing consultation with the Plant Engineer, the safety Manager, numerous project engineers and managers/specialists when decisions are to be made.

This role will have opportunities to interact with all levels of employees in the manufacturing facility; ranging from the Plant Manager to Machine Operators in order to assist in product development, with a particular focus on “lean”. The successful applicant will gain diverse experience in the functions and needs of a rubber products development group.

Consultation with OSHA building codes and ordinances, and other regulatory agency sources while performing assigned tasks.

Through SheBelieves, U.S. Soccer aims to instill in every young woman and girl self-confidence and positive action towards being their best self.

As an extension of this movement, U.S. Soccer has partnered with Continental to include internships that bring SheBelieves to life. The Engineering / R&D Internship was selected to be part of the SheBelieves Internship Program.

In addition to regular intern responsibilities, this internship will be a part of the SheBelieves Network- a network consisting of several interns across the country and individuals who are dedicated to personifying the SheBelieves movement.

Each intern will have access to the following:

• Networking opportunities
• Customized mentorship program
• Trip to a U.S. Soccer Women’s National Team match

At the conclusion of the internship, each intern will be invited to a participate in a celebratory wrap-up gathering around a Women’s National Team match at the Tournament of Nations in July/August. All interns will be asked to present to the group and answer one of the following questions: How did the company/organization you worked for showcase the SheBelieves Ethos and how can the company/organization you worked for further enable the ethos of SheBelieves?

Required Education / Experience / Skills:

**Desired working duration would be from April/May 2018 to April/May 2019**

Must be authorized to work in the US without visa or other sponsorship (unless an internal Continental employee applicant).

Will be completing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Agricultural, or closely related Engineering field on or before June 2020 and currently enrolled at an accredited university.

Intermediate level skills in AUTOCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.
