Job Description

Summary
To plan, develop, coordinate, define and implement the activities, standards, rules, procedures and projects on safety, security, industrial hygiene, fire protection and environment areas, applying the ISO 14001 and safety management system in compliance with OSHA DHEC etc.

Core Responsibilities
• Define, control, keep actual and guarantee the application of the Safety management system, issuing rules, standards, procedures and working instruction according corporate standards, OSHA/DHEC standards and risk assessment.
• Develop concepts, procedures and work instructions for environmental protection.
• Utilize audit procedures to control and check regularly for continuous improvement of the system.
• Implement and maintain an environmental management system according to ISO 14001 and internal standards.
• Assist with the review of needed investments for safety area and define / propose the annual investment plan related to the area, for materials, machinery and industrial installations.
• Suggest and support the annual planning and implementation of environmental investments related to environmentally relevant machines and equipment.
• Participate in the department budget process to ensure relevant items are included.
• Ensure training and competence of employees for ESH systems and the related processes. Develop, communicate and implement tools for awareness creation of all employees. To define monitoring programs related to safety industrial hygiene and occupational health (emissions, effluents, noise, lighting, thermal contort, dust, gas, chemical exposures, etc.). Through auditing check the results and defining actions and investments.
• Assist with cross site audits as requested. Define and control environmental monitoring programs for air emissions, emissions into water, waste, and other relevant processes.
• Verify the results and define actions and investments in collaboration with other affected parties.
• Generate emergency preparedness plans for potential environmental incidents.
• Ensure systems are in place to timely manage deviations to the site processes and systems which may impact the environment.
• Support ESH to coordinate Crisis Management Team and plant teams, giving training, trials and resources, to guarantee an immediate and adequate response in case of fire.
• Assist to define and control the procedures related to hazardous material (safety data sheets, work instructions, first aid and disposal of the waste).
• Define and control the procedures related to the disposal of all waste types (separation, collecting, checking, classification, etc.).
• Through auditing assure the correct external disposal as defined by the legal requirements. Manage documentation necessary for the processes according to legal mandates.
• Assist with security management, including establishing security management procedure and instruction, and monitor and evaluate the security performance to the established standard.
• Establish the contractor safety management program.
• Participate in the preselection review of potential vendors and monitor the performance of on site contractors.
• Participate in cross site audits are requested by management.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in safety, environmental science, chemistry or related field
• 5 years experience in manufacturing and/or ESH environment
• MS Office

Preferred Qualifications
• Additional certifications (CHMM, ASP, CSP, Radiation Safety Officer, IHMM, physical/chemical class D WWT)
• Project or Process Experience
