Job Description

Position Overview:
Responsible for research & analysis of (Mega)­Trends in North America, reflection to C&S situation/strategy.
Generation of proposals for strategic decisions of C&S Board. Responsible for development of technology from inception through concept release (G10) of new or optimized systems & components, functions & methods and tools. Research in new technologies. Responsible for Research management C&S (Universities, Institutes). Generation of IP and patents. Representation of C&S future product strategy in North America.

Core Responsibilities:
• Personally responsible for leading the entire Advanced Engineering team at the North American headquarter location including sub­teams developing Software, Algorithms and Electronics.
• Functional management of Advanced Engineering teams in Mexico and the Silicon Valley R&D center.
• Lead the high performance Advanced Engineering team in North America including personnel management and leading of leaders.
• Drive positive change in the organization by improving the technical capabilities in the Division by exploring new processes, methods and tools to keep up with (or exceed) the competition.
• Research & analyze of (Mega)­Trends in North America, reflection to C&S situation/strategy.
• Generation of proposals for strategic decisions of C&S Board. Responsible for development in minimum to concept release (G10) of new or optimized systems & components, functions & methods and tools.
• Research in new technologies. Responsible for Research management C&S (Universities, Institutes). Generation of IP and patents. Representation of C&S future product strategy in North America.
• Secure the availability of technology (systems/technical products) to assure sustainable growth (future business) of division Chassis & Safety.
• Assist the Division C&S in North America and Globally to place our new technologies at the forefront of innovation in the industry.
• Participate in customer and media events, conduct interviews, demonstrate technology, speak at industry conferences, etc.
• Explore state of the art agile development methodologies and work to continuously improve the implementation of agile development within C&S S&T.

Competencies:
­• Detailed knowledge of the product portfolio.
­• Detailed understanding of customer R&D strategies, technology trends, and future mobility concepts.
­• Detailed understanding of Artificial Intelligence trends including Deep Learning.
­• Understanding of Agile Development methodologies.
­• Communication skills and understanding of cultural diversity when managing large projects across departments, Business Units, locations, countries and regions.

Required Qualifications:
­• Bachelors degree in Engineering Discipline.
­• 10+ years cross functional experience in Automotive including engineering and at least 2 of the following functions: Advanced R&D and Media experience.
­• At least 5 examples of High level (executive) customer interaction experience.
­• At least 5 successfully completed projects with an international focus.
­• Agile development.
­• Software including Artificial Intelligence (Deep Learning preferred).
­• Previous management experience.
­• Worked in international teams for at least 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters Degree in Engineering Discipline.
• 15+ years cross functional experience in the Automotive industry.
