Position Title: Operations Engineering & Supply Chain Manager


Operations Engineering:
• This position will be located in Dearborn, MI USA and will require travel to Continental manufacturing plants and supplier locations.
• Lead, coordinate and support the operations launch management & manufacturing technology of assigned products and locations that are design & developed in NA for BU HEV. Plan and target work steps/ work flows/ flow of material/ production layout/ equipment/ standard time for production of subassemblies/ assembling with interdependent processing operations. Consider new or modified methods using ergonomic, manufacturing and economic knowledge respectively in cooperation with other internal departments.
• Initiate implementation of process qualification certificate and certificate of process capability respectively support the implementation.
• Coordinate, fix and represent the relevant sizes for planning (e.g. PPAP, Ramp up, SOP) with other departments. Work out target/ actual comparison of the required capacities, demonstrate alternatives, present detailed schedules, fix and coordinate investment costs and production times/ cycles.
• Active control of product costs according to the agreed cost targets (e. g. make and buy analysis, support of making decision concerning investments).

Core OE Responsibilities:
• Lead, Coordinate and / or support complete industrialization efforts for introduction of new or existing production to designated manufacturing location. Includes layouts, production concepts, equipment specification, supplier integration, mfg. planning. This is for both new production as well as transfer of existing production within Continental, as defined by strategic direction.
• Plan all the resources and functions needed for the industrialization in cooperation with several areas.
• Coordinate constructive arrangement, trigger production and acquisition (purchasing, procurement).
• Arrange respectively initiate acceptance of resources and certificate of machines capability as well as handover to production.
• Coordinate PPAP, SOP, Ramp up / Ramp down of production, customer approvals.
• Lead Operations portion of quoting process, working with finance, program management and manufacturing locations. Includes accurate costing of industrialization capital, tooling and plant resources.
• Lead, coordinate and/or support ongoing production improvements that generate positive impacts to EBIT. This includes process, machines, resources, materials, scrap, and inventory.
• Establish goals and strategy for the NPL/MT team.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Support ongoing operations strategy for locations, preferred process, preferred suppliers, and preferred equipment providers
• Develop and execute actions plans to meet customer objectives during launch phase
• Integrate activities of broad based functions required to support production intent project, including; quality, PV testing, Test Platforms, SAP integration of BOM’s, knowledge transfers between locations, production FA and Warranty support based upon product requirements
• Develop, implement and optimize typical manufacturing processes in an automotive environment
• Technically support for manufacturing processes in electronics plants
• Lead improvement projects with focus on costs, quality and process performance using Six Sigma, Kata and comparable structured approaches
• Provide all necessary documentation such as PFMEAs, control plans, qualification plans, maintenance plans for new equipment
• Manage development projects in close cooperation with equipment suppliers
• Organize, monitor and report results of DV, PV, and sample builds
• Work with design engineering on design for excellence to include design for cost, design for test and design for manufacturability aspects in the early phases of product development
• Report deviations in budget or schedule to management
• Lead process, equipment and design standardization projects to improve the costs and timings for new projects
• On-site support of pre-series and series production Ramp-up as well as continuous process optimization
• Network with technical experts from all Continental organizations

Core SCM Manager Responsibilities:
• Development of innovative SCM Concepts and the implementation with the manufacturing locations to increase efficiency along the Supply Chain
• Execution and Lead in SCM Projects
• Sourcing, bundling and analysis of SCM Data to improve performance and inventory management
• Logistics cost calculation in customer quotes
• Volume Review Meeting in the region and customer demand planning and forecasting
• Supplier management - strategically and operational including escalations
• Customer communication in strategic topics as well as operations
• Implementation of lean methods and tools in the focus factories

• A high willingness to travel for our international projects and ability to work in an international team is required.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related engineering discipline
• At least 7 to 10+ years of engineering experience within a manufacturing/production environment
• Minimum of 3 to 5+ years experience supporting/leading production and plant operations, including new product launch support activities and direct customer interaction
• Experience in Logistics and manufacturing supply chain management
• Knowledgeable about customs, foreign trade, transportation and supply chain planning
• Experienced supporting or leading cross-functional/multi-discipline teams to coordinate and realize launch objectives 

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in engineering or MBA
• Prefer 5+ years experience with production and plant operations, including direct interface with customers and supporting new launch initiatives, experience in the automotive industry is preferred
• PMP Certification
• Program/Project Management Experience
• Fluent German and/or Spanish fluency
