The Research and Development Technology Center is a professionally diverse organization of scientists, engineers, compounders, and supporting staff whose primary mission is to provide the scientific disciplines required to maintain technological leadership to support the global businesses of ContiTech, which is a division of Continental Tire. The main products of ContiTech are: conveyor belts; Ag products, transportation, industrial, and hydraulic hose; power transmission belts; and molded transportation products.

JOB DESCRIPTION

This assignment provides a diverse experience in the functions of an Advanced Science and Technology Lab (ASTL) using hot cast polyurethane polymers. The student will have the opportunity to learn about static specimen testing and characterization of materials, CATIA V5 design, along with training on a portable Coordinate Measuring Machine (FARO ARM). They will also be directly involved in the casting process of polyurethane products and the development of processes along with other engineering type applications. The student will have hands on experience in specimen preparation, test set-up, machine test, data presentation, material behavior, and product development and evaluation.

Test Lab
The AST lab is equipped with a variety of test and molding equipment used to evaluate the performance of both new and existing polymer products. The student will assist lab technicians in physical molding and testing of samples. Types of tests include: Adhesion pulls, quasi-static tensile and elongation, and polymer development. Student will learn how to perform the various tests as well as how the test affects the product development & performance. Job Requirements Qualifications:

The student will be expected to use Microsoft Office to analyze data, report test results, review trends and statistics, along with documenting their results in formal engineering reports.
Knowledge of Excel programming though Macros is desired, not required.
