Mechanical Engineering Manager
The Focus of the Mechanical Engineering Manager position is in the area of project support, people development and performance management as well as development of local NA mission and strategy for the Mechanical Engineering discipline. He or she will manage a team of mechanical designers and engineers including their career and competence development. He or She will manage the Mechanical Engineering discipline to obtain excellent project results in line with Customer requirements and BU strategic expectations (high quality and performance standards within the defined cost/timeline).

Core Responsibilities:
• Establish the structure and layers of communication within his/ her group: at group level, at team level, at project team level, at management level, with direct and indirect reports.
• Communicates internally the group strategy to his/ her group and tailors the communication depending on the audience expresses clearly his/ her expectations
• Responsible to ensure that employees' competencies and skills inside the group are at the level required by the job
• Performs the yearly Performance Management Process for all direct reports and supervises the Performance Management Process for all indirect reports, according to the applicable procedure, time and budget limits
• Mentors and coaches employees on the topics of people development and performance management
• Identify and create a roadmap for a successor from within the group
• Define the Mission and Strategy for his/ her group considering the input from all stakeholders (e.g. from Head of CF & ME WW)
• Translates the strategy into roadmaps
• Tracks the defined roadmaps and informs stakeholders about the progress.
• Implementation & monitoring of improvement processes (DTC, CBS, CIM, patents etc.)
• Drive locally the processes improvements for ME of the defined processes such as compliance with the PLC , DFSS , ME Requirements Engineering
• Responsible to make sure that every employee of his/ her group has tasks according to their qualification, competences and position, with input from Head of CF / ME NA/WW
• Tracks the allocation regularly
• Responsible to procure the technical equipment needed to complete the tasks for his/ her group, in line with estimations and budget limits
• Contributes to the definition of the hiring plan for his/her group.
• Maintains a constant overview about the hiring processes inside his group; is familiar with the corporate procedures and tools
• Participates at interviews or at interview decisions
• Participates with HR in recruiting events
• Presents the company and/ or company's products in order to attract prospects
• Organizes his/ her organization in line with the location and Business Unit strategy and guidelines
• Assigns and communicates the roles within his/ her group
• Identify the risks within own group related to people and related to projects on a regular basis
• Define and implement actions/ supervise the implementation of actions to minimize risks and measure the efficiency of these actions
• Releases all quotations/estimation from his/ her group
• Assumes the responsibility for the delivery and deadline commitments from his/ her group

Additional Responsibilities:
• Participates to the budget planning and tracks the budget for his/ her group
• Tracks budget status of training, business trips, investments, low value assets
• Provides input to Discipline Project Manager and Project Manager about the project budget
• Responsible for the discipline, objects review as well as all project's ME deliverables according to the PLC process (concept design review, requirement management, material selection, tolerance stack up, 3D&2D reviews)
• Regularly checks the status of the projects within his/ her group and supervises the definition of - and proposes corrective actions if the project is endangered
• Is involved and takes appropriate measures in case of escalations from Discipline Project Manager or Project Manager, Head of CF, Head of ME NA
• Prepares and submits requested reports according to department's/ location processes
• Escalates issues which need higher management decision/ approval/ review (e.g. fluctuation, project issues, technical issues)
• Mediates conflicts between members of his group and other parties and takes appropriate measures

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
• Minimum of 7+ years of engineering experience
• At least 2+ years working in, supporting, or leading international projects
• Must have 2+ years of experience as a Technical Project Lead, Supervisor, and/or Senior Staff level role
• Must have demonstrated knowledge & expertise in Product development Methods and Tools, including; GD&T, Stack-Up analysis, Mechanical Assembly Methods and standards (i.e. laser welding, heat stake, soldering, etc..),DFA / DFM, DFMEA / PFMEA
• Problem Solving (6Sigma, DMAIC/ Design of Experiment, etc...), CAD (i.e. Creo, Catia V5)

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in related technical field, or MBA
• 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership, supervisory, or managerial role
• Any of the following: Global Expert designation, external certifications, authored research publications, or technically relevant patents/invention disclosures
