Job Description

This position will be part of a planned Joint Venture (JV) between Osram and Continental which, subject to clearance by the relevant antitrust authorities, is intended to be a standalone legal entity with equal shares from both partners. The partnership is a global partnership with the goal of leveraging the collective strengths of Osram's lighting technology and Continental's electronics business. Day 1 of the JV is targeted to be July 1, 2018 and will consist of approximately 1,500 employees in 17 locations across 9 countries, with headquarters in Munich, Germany.

Primary Job Description

The qualified candidate will be responsible for general Account Management and Sales Development of the JV's electronic lighting modules to North American customers. The candidate will serve as the main commercial interface between customers and the JV to ensure that all customer needs are satisfied and that company policies are followed. Target customers on Day 1 of the JV will include Ford, GM, FCA, and new start­ups on the west coast (e.g., Tesla).

Primary Responsibilities

­Win new business to meet business growth targets, including annual order intake goals
­Lead pricing negotiations for new product quotations and engineering changes
­Research customer's competencies and develop plans for growing opportunities at existing and new customers
­Foster, facilitate and oversee all the plans and activities for strategic assigned accounts
­Lead multi­disciplinary business acquisition teams to respond to customer RFQs. Work directly with engineers and manufacturing to develop Solid State Lighting (SSL) solutions, within customer's performance and cost requirements
­Manage and satisfactorily resolve all commercial issues of business relationship with customers
­Analyze and act on new business opportunities
­Identify new growth fields in the lighting/electronics market and introduce these growth opportunities back into the organization
­Keep up to date on SSL technologies, both independently and through engineering colleagues
­Respond to capacity change requests and ensure alignment with plant installed capacity
­Build and maintain trustful relationships with key customer contacts
­Support annual sales planning activities and maintain volume databases
­Monitor competitive landscape
­Participate in annual productivity planning
­Maintain thorough understanding of commercial agreements
­Provide regular reporting of sales activities
­Support annual Strategic Plan preparation with sales and market data
­Help coordinate marketing efforts, technical shows, and customer events


­Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline (required)
­5+ years of sales experience (required)
­10+ years of automotive electronics and/or lighting experience (required)

­Master's Degree and 10+ years of sales experience (preferred)
­Tier One sales experience (preferred)
­Solutions oriented/Skilled at problem solving
­Strong negotiation skills
