Job Description

Resident Application Engineer for Sensors & Actuators at Ford Motor Company. This role will function as the technical liaison supporting Sensors and Actuators applications at Ford

Core Responsibilities:
• Support regular meeting with customer and Continental Engineering
• Support New Business (focus on Thermal Management)
• Keep good working relationship with current production Engineering as well as advanced engineering to be ready to support their development projects
• Support/Manage Engineering Changes with No-cost Impact to Customer
• Review Continental desired SREA with the customer
• Acquire necessary approvals within Ford (D&R, Supervisor D&R, Supervisor of Engine, Resident Engineer and Quality Manager)
• Follow up with engine platforms affected ensure Continental has the right approvals.
• Ensure that all data has been supplied & is presentable
• Raise “Concern” if required (i.e print change)
• Support/manage cost driven changes that require “Concerns” or “Alerts”
• Write Concerns/Alerts for changes that are occurring. (Using the Ford WERS system)
• Follow “Concern” in the Ford System to verify necessary support form relevant parties within Ford
• Provide documentation of approved “Alert” or “Concern” needs to Continental Engineering
• Support/manage customer requests for print changes
• Ensure that Continental engineering is aware and understands request.
• Ensure that Continental guide files are up to date

Additional Responsibilities:
• Acquire customer sign-off where necessary
• Manage files in “DOCMAN”
• Support parts on test at the Customer
• APQP & PSW Documentation.
• Review DVP&R, DFMEA, Reliability and Robustness Documentation with customer.
• Submit the ESER for samples that are PSW awaiting PSW signoff with capability data from the plant.
• Review 8D's with customer when failures occur in the field.
• Support Quality / Warranty
• Track and report status of all warranty parts and any related issues.
• Support customer in trouble shooting all possible root causes and develop failure analysis for each return.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering
• At least 2+ years of experience in Gasoline and Diesel Engine technology, Thermal Management technologies, and GD&T and blueprint reading
• Working knowledge of QS9000, ISO14001 and TS16949 standards applicable to the position
• Fluency in English is mandatory
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and MS Project
• Proficient in SPC, DOE, Problem solving FMEA etc..
• Willingness and ability to travel as required to accomplishing the job

Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree in engineering
• 3+ years experience in Thermal Management technologies for ICE and HEV propulsion
• Product knowledge of Engine Actuators and Emission Components, Thermal Management Systems
• Know how to use Ford Release and Change Management Tools
• Understand Ford’s engineering related release processes
