Job Description

Continental's Business Unit Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) focuses on developing and offering service solutions within the automotive space. These solutions are comprised of both hardware and service elements that drive the need for a combination of existing standard purchasing solutions and some tailored solutions that fit a service oriented business structure.

ITS is looking for an individual that can help define and establish optimal processes that support this business environment. This individual would serve as a liaison between ITS and Continental Purchasing by providing purchasing guidance to the team and by establishing flexible, streamlined processes. Responsibilities would include topics related to production material, as well as non­production (and CEOS) topics. This position supports a smaller Business Unit and requires handling a broad range of responsibilities extending from supplier related discussions to detailed data entry.

• Supports ITS with negotiations, procurements, and coordination of vendors for materials, goods and/or services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, advertising, licenses, etc. for both production and non­production phases.
• Drives supplier identification and selection process in order to meet localized target costs for new projects for both external and intercompany suppliers. Accountable for execution and implementation of sourcing and supplier management strategies utilizing cross­functional strategic sourcing teams.
• Supports during the market definition and development phases of potential new services and products. Assists in determining best material and service supplier related solutions and in estimating costs.
• Calculates BOM costs for hardware and services during the acquisition phase and for business case scenarios.
• Responsible for RFQs for awarded projects, negotiations with quoting suppliers, and interactions / issue resolution with suppliers, including intercompany suppliers.
• Responsible for ensuring suppliers meet project timelines and milestones with quality material and/or services.
• Represents ITS with Regional and Global Purchasing and serves as the liaison for all purchasing related topics.
• Defines strategic supplier list for ITS related topics together with Category Purchasing.
• Defines processes and procedures for specific purchasing activities related to the service environment.
• Responsible for NPM related activities (including CEOS), issue resolution, and process definition.
• Assists with ordering, purchasing and tracking of sample and production material
• Assists in resolution of Accounts Payable topics with suppliers.
• Drives supplier related cost reduction initiatives and supports design to cost activities for products and services in production (including both external and intercompany suppliers).
• Supports budget process for materials and services suppliers, tooling for suppliers, and NPM items.
• Responsible for any data management for AP and / or Purchasing related reports and definition / tracking of KPIs.
• Manages any necessary change management with the supplier.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree, 3+ years business related experience
• Vendor / Project Management experience, including negotiation, relationship management and contracts
• Strong communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to understand products and services, and analyze / interpret data to make decisions
• Office intermediate skill level and knowledge of purchasing systems / tools (including SAP)
• Self driven and highly motivated
• Desire to explore new approaches, propensity to embrace different alternatives and drive to continuously improve processes
• Ability to assess complicated scenarios and reduce to critical key points
• Strong project planning and organizational skills
