Job Description

Quality Engineer. Continental Automotive Systems, Inc. Auburn Hills, MI. In the Vehicle Dynamics business unit, develop reliability models (life time data, parametric & non-parametric models, reliability test plans, Design of Experiments, Markov & Monte Carlo Models), and generate MTTF, MBTF, Weibull/Hazard/reliability predictions on varied scenarios not limited to Time & Mileage-based Warranty, early field failures, etc. Evaluate supplier 8D & risk assessment results including assessing Weibull characteristics (unreliability curves, parameter estimates, etc.), tracking non-conformance prognosis and escalate on deviations of calculated predictions. Determine forecast and cost estimation of field returns on early product lifetime/ 0-Km issues/Field returns/customer recalls and driving accruals in BU, including determining life cycle costs and translating lessons learned to future development products. Coordinate with TPL/PM to execute engineering solutions to achieve customer & BU warranty targets by tracking customer warranty trends and application of standard quality methodologies like 8D, FTA & reporting in Voice of Customer & customer executive meetings. Facilitate identification, evaluation and completing Six Sigma Black Belt improvement project to reduce process waste, minimize variation and improve efficiency in processes using DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) Methodology. Evaluate process risk mitigation plans for new versions of product life cycle, capture lessons learned and improve processes as needed. Conduct process audit to govern adherence of complete and systematic approach of all processes requirements in product life cycle and identify improvement areas. Create project quality reports & work on special escalation projects, goals and objectives of VED business unit in North America.

Requires at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. Requires two (2) years of automotive industry experience to include two (2) years with the following: reliability modeling (Weibull, forecasting, and statistical techniques like design of experiments and regression modeling); application of DMAIC methodology (Six Sigma); statistical process control (SPC); Advanced product quality planning (APQP) & production Part approval process (PPAP); Quality Processes & Problem solving tools (8D, FTA and FMEA); automotive & systems specific requirements; Minitab 17.0 version or higher; Weibull++ Version 11.0 or higher; Visual-xsel 13.0; MS project 2013 or higher; and SAP & OEM customer based tools.
