Job Description


The BUIC group in Deer Park is seeking a Software Project Lead for the RnD team. This individual will be responsible for the customer software delivery using other system components. This project is tasked with supporting a major automotive manufacturer. A motivated, self­starter is needed, who has the skills and vision to provide technical direction to the team across multiple regions. The project lead must be able to work with minimum supervision in a challenging environment. This candidate provides SW project management or Software development leadership. This job will interface the Technical Project Lead, Project Manager, other SW teams, customers, production, and/or other departments.


•Create and maintain the SW team schedule.
•Resource planning and adjust with the scope changes of the SW delivery.
•Understanding of the Automotive SPICE processes
•Lead the team for the SW development and provide support for the development
•To be the main technical interface to the customer for the engineering design.
•Successfully communicates appropriate project information to cross­­functional teams and management
•Creating and maintaining the SW plan, Feature ramp up plan, Problem defect ramp up/down plan, resource plan, SW KPIs.
•Understand the customer requirements.
•Drive the team to deliver the good quality SW.


•Creation and delivery of technical presentations for both external customers and internal groups.
•Contribution to company internal and external work groups.
•Nonfunctional feature testing (performance, memory, …).
•Identify and resolve crashes and system failures.
•Targeted system optimization.
•Developing and debugging software in a real-time, embedded, multiprocessor, multi­-interface environment.
•Some amount of domestic and international travel will be required.
•Drives and documents internal and external design meetings.
•Ensures that all designs meet customer requirements; works with customer to ensure requirements are totally understood.
•Responsible to ensure customer feedback is regarded in team’s work output and designs.
•Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.
•Provides direction to the SW engineering team.
•Responsible for overall success of the project.
•Some amount of domestic and international travel will be required .
•Identifies resource needs and develops justification.
•Leads quotation activities for potential projects.


•Bachelor’s Degree in Computer, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
•5+ years embedded software engineering experience.
•Multi­site SW project leading experience.
•Customer interface and clear communication skills.
•C, C++ programming languages.
•Embedded Linux.
•Able to adapt to the new technologies and provide support to the team.
•Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
•Software Project Lead experience.
•Able to apply design/development tools as required (FMEA, 8D Methodology, etc.).

•Master’s Degree in Computer, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
•7+ years Automotive embedded software Architecture experience.
•7+ years Telematics engineering experience.
•Multi­site development experience.
•Automotive product development process (SPICE).
•Automotive HW and embedded SW experience.
•Vehicle network bus systems experience (CAN).
