Job Description

Manage the development and introduction of New Products for the NAFTA Market in line with Marketing Requirements. Monitors the performance of existing products and develops strategies for improvements where necessary. Identifies and develops new tire concepts for presentation to Marketing and Sales. Liaises with Central R&D to ensure conformance to agreed product release procedures and regarding technology requirements.

Plans, organizes and executes various major tire engineering projects to meet the demands of R&D the Americas and Product Marketing for the NAFTA Region. Also monitors the development to ensure conformance to accepted release timings. Ensures that all Product Planning is in cooperation with Marketing and Central R&D for resource planning and steering. Directs the development & release of new products in line with Design Guide standards from Central R&D. Projects and line tasks are included. Meets Marketing demands.

• Identifies and develops new tire concepts for presentation to R&D the Americas and Product Marketing with the expectation of introducing into the Product portfolio for the NAFTA Region
• Translate market feedback (Benchmarking) into product improvement requirements in close cooperation with QM and Customer Service.
• Represents R&D at customers as needed.
• Reacts to customer complaints and ensures products are adapted to fulfill customer demands.
• Plans, executes and monitors the department budget for 99561. Maintains the expenditure in line with Controllers expectations
• Advises Upper Management on Technical Decisions related to Product Performance and direction for new developments
• Trains and/or Aids the other Engineers in technical matters and project set up. Monitors and Controls the personnel development of Engineers under their jurisdiction
• Performs other R&D duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree, Science or Engineering
• 7-10 years experience of Tire Engineering
• Intercultural/International Experience in R&D
• International and domestic travel as needed
• Proven project management success and exposure to tire production procedures. Included must be an understanding of process capabilities of plants. Understanding of tire dynamics and what influences Product Performance for commercial truck tire products in the North America market, including tools available for the engineering of tires.
• Knowledge of performance of internal and competitor radial truck tires in the N. America market, including benchmarking and legal requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:
• 7-10 years experience of Tire Engineering, preferably Truck Tire development
• Experience in management, preferably in engineering role (desired)
• Strong presentation skills.
